Wheels of Success will be taking the checkered flag for 11 years of championship service in 2014 at RACE, our 8th annual program honoring the community organizations, businesses and individuals who have provided outstanding support to our nonprofit in the previous year. R.A.C.E., our Recognition & Appreciation of our Champions Event featuring the Hub Cap Awards, will be a held Friday April 11th at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa. RACE is a black and white event, complete with thrill-seeking excitement, special appearances and pit stop experiences, dinner on the circuit. Keys to several “new-to-them” vehicles will also be presented to individuals who have been “waiting for wheels,” and past vehicle recipients will be sharing their stories about how their lives have changed since receiving their cars.
Having a vehicle means more than just reliable transportation; it can mean a better job, promotions and an opportunity to lead a more fulfilling life. Wheels of Success has created a number of targeted programs to address specific community needs. From young adults aging out of foster care hoping to continue their education (Wheels to the Future), to the domestic violence victims leaving their abuser to start again (Road to Independence), to veterans reentering the workforce after serving their country (Vehicles for Veterans), to CNAs aiding patients after the buses stop running (Cars for Caregivers), to the family ending the cycle of homelessness by finally finding a job and the means to get there, Wheels of Success helps people help themselves. We are more than just a handout—our vehicle recipients make small interest free payments for one year, along with completing other program requirements, before receiving their car title.
