How to Make the Most of our Mandatory Staycation

Empowered Greetings Everyone,

Here are my Top Twelve Tips for How to Make the Most of our Mandatory Staycation

  1. Meditate. Take 15 to 30 minutes each day and participate in either a guided or an instrumental meditation session to quiet your mind and practice PRESENCE.
  2. Exercise. Take walks, go for a run, ride your bike, jump on your treadmill, or simply go on YouTube and you will find tons of free exercise routines that you can do to keep stress down and your endorphins flowing to make you feel great.
  3. Prepare Home-cooked Meals. What a wonderful time to try new recipes or make all your favorite foods for those you love and care about the most. Enjoy non-rushed and non-hurried meals with your family during this time.
  4. Organize your Closets & Garage. I just did this yesterday. I had my daughters help me go through both my closets and bag ALL CLOTHES that I haven't worn in 12 months. We collected 2 large trash bags full of clothes that we will donate to the homeless shelters in our area.
  5. Involve your Kids in your Business/ Side Hustle. Our children will follow our footsteps faster than they will follow our advice. Get your kids involved in some aspect of your business, your side ventures or things that bring your family additional income streams. That's some of the best education they will ever get.
  6. Play Boardgames. Turn off Netflix for a while and actually break out all the old classic boardgames and card games. Also, if you have kids - let them teach you some of the newer games and have a BLAST connecting, laughing, competing and trash-talking over snacks and drinks with your family and friends.
  7. Take Naps. I am a HUGE believer in naps. I think they are so healthy for us. So since most people don't get the correct amount of sleep during our normal lives - this is the perfect time to catch up on sleep by taking a daily NAP. You'd be amazed at what a 45-minute powernap can do for your energy.
  8. Read Books & Take Online Courses. If you're anything like me, you have 5 books that you've started reading but haven't finished yet. So take 1 book and FINISH IT, and then jump on the next. If you dedicate 1 hour per day to just relaxing and reading, you'll probably finish 5 books over the next 2 weeks. Additionally, now is a perfect time to take online course and invest the time an money into virtual education. The goal should be advancing your career, business, and or personal life.   9. Reach out to 10 family/friends that you barely talk to regularly. Whether it's family or friends, people like to know that we are thinking about them. So call some family that you don't normally talk to. Reach out of old classmates that follow you on social media. When God drops someone on your mind, call them or Facetime them and say Hello.
  10. Start & Finish a Special Project. We all have projects or special interests that we have started in our minds but haven't actually started. Or some that we've started but have not finished. Now is a perfect time to pick that project back up and dedicate 1 hour or 2 hours each day towards that Special Project so that each day you feel accomplished and fulfilled!
  11. Journal your Gratitude each Morning. Get yourself a simple journal and each morning write down 10 things that you're grateful for before the day actually unfolds. Actually write down what you have, and what's going right in your life. Focus on 7 regular things (family, health, shelter, groceries) and 3 super small things that you would normally take for granted (air condition, clean sheets, hot water, toilet paper).
  12. Okay Okay - Binge watch your favorite shows. We all have our favorite shows and or movies or series that are on right now. So of course, enjoy these shows but notice that there are 11 other things you can do besides watch TV that will develop you, entertain you and grow you!
