from Foresight Friday:

Good afternoon,

It was ten years ago this month that a friend suggested that I write a book. It's been a long strange trip but it has been so exciting. As we all prepare for the coming new year I am excited to celebrate 10 years of working on this wild mission to change the way the economy works.

Look for a special message on Giving Tuesday as we celebrate the milestones and share some of what we're working on at the Institute for Economic Evolution.

Forward looking and reflective thoughts I’ve stumbled on, found interesting, or just generally think are worth taking a look at.

Las Vegas truck driving students take advantage of US driver shortage
Perhaps everyone using truck-driving as the their primary example of a soon to be automated career wasn't the best idea for securing supply chains. Looks like we've got a few more years before truck driving is obsolete.

Listen: Get Philosophical for Work Success
An author, podcaster, and practical philosopher, Cristina draws on ancient insight to help people solve contemporary problems. And as the founder of MorAlchemy, she guides people with practical philosophy to lead happier, more purposed lives doing meaningful work.

Read: There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing
Mentioned by Christina in her interview above was this essay by Adam Grant, the well known organizational psychologist at Wharton. Languishing is reminiscent of the feeling of sloth that I mentioned back in September.

Similar to Christina, I believe that perhaps these feelings have been there for quite sometime but it is only in the receding of the pandemic that we have become more acutely aware of it. The "system" is trying to push us back to what was once normal and few of us want to go back.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Gratefully,
