Dear Colleague,
I’m sick and tired of Zoom, aren’t you?
The other day, for example, I was expecting a phone call from a client at 11:00 am. At 10:45, I got an email from the same client with an invitation to Zoom.
I was dressed in my pajamas at the time. Not the kind of pajamas with little bunny feet, fortunately. But let’s put it this way, bunny slippers would’ve been stylistically compatible with these pajamas.
So I made a dash for my dressing room where I put on a blouse and sweater, dragged a curling iron through my hair, and slapped on some makeup. Then I wondered what to do about my neck because, after all, it’s an old neck and it’s showing some signs of wear and tear. I figured 15 minutes probably wasn’t enough time for plastic surgery, so I added a scarf.
But all the time I’m wondering, “What’s wrong with a simple phone call?”
Unfortunately, I’m afraid Zoom is here to stay. Even if we all get back to our offices someday, I’m sure Zoom will continue to be a regular feature of our work lives. And our personal lives, too.
Why reserve the conference room, after all, when you can have a quick meeting from your desk? Why get on an airplane and travel thousands of miles—risking the possibility of getting punched in the nose by a fellow passenger—when you can meet your client face-to-face electronically? Why visit your family in person when you can see them from a safe distance?
Zoom has its benefits, to be sure. But it also has some drawbacks, pitfalls, and problems. Which is why we have several trainers and consultants in our Network who can help our clients use Zoom more effectively.
Whether it’s training on technical issues like how to create “breakout rooms” … how to select the right platform for your needs (Zoom isn’t always the best choice) … or how to improve your personal presence on Zoom with your body language, vocal quality, facial expressions, lighting, and background settings, we have experts who can help you with every aspect of online meetings.
We even have some consultants who will take over the entire process of organizing, producing, and facilitating an online meeting … so you can just sit back and participate.
If you need help with online meetings, big or small, please give me a call at 202-333-0644 or send an email to Sharon@TrainersAndConsultants.net. I’ll give you the names of at least three experts who can do the job at a price you can afford. As always, my service comes at no charge to you.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get out of my pajamas and bunny slippers and put on some proper clothing.
After all, it’s 4:00 pm.
Sincerely,
Sharon Armstrong
