Do you have a friend who you have been dieting with for what seems like forever? Nailing it and failing it on so many fad diets, is what so many of us have grown up doing, including me. Today I want to share with you a member story from Kat Geitner in her own words……….
A couple of years ago, I was “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.” I was exhausted, my hair was falling out, and stretchy clothes were the only thing getting me out the door. I felt horrible!
In March 2019, I went to the doctor. My blood pressure was borderline high, but they threatened more medication. I was already taking allergy, cholesterol, and anti-inflammatories, so hey, throw another script my way!
I mentioned doing an elimination diet to the doctor, but she wasn’t encouraging. She said, “You can do whatever you want, but it’s not going to help.” Her response made me mad, and this is where my prayers changed. Instead of praying for someone or something to fix me, I prayed for God to give me the tools. Within days God sent an answer to my prayers.
My friend Heather posted a picture on Facebook, and she looked radiant! Since college, I’ve known Heather, and we’ve been partners in dieting crimes forever, from diet pills to shakes, you name it, we’ve tried it. Seeing her in this photo, however, I knew this wasn’t the same old gimmicks. She had this glow about her that was just…different!. I had to know what was she doing?
She told me about this program that was all about real food, no pills or shakes involved. The diet she described was exactly what I had been praying for! I knew my diet was why I felt so awful, but I didn’t know where to start.
It was time I invested in myself, something I never did. I’m the queen of putting the needs of others before my own, but I realized I would be no good to anyone if I continued to feel this way.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve gone from being miserable in my extra-large, stretchy clothes to a closet that holds sizes 2 through 6! I discovered you could make excellent food without sugar and create healthier versions of favorite family recipes.
Through this process, I learned. Some foods work for my body, and some just don’t, and I had to correct what I believed about myself before the weight would come off and stay off. I’ve been told all my life that I would never be “skinny,” so I believed that. Not that being skinny was a goal. It wasn’t. My goal was to be healthy and to fit in my size ten jeans comfortably! I’ve learned to dream bigger!
