Following trends that are shaping potential futures
Yesterday, Amanda and I picked up the keys to the second-floor offices of the historic Betty Ann Hotel on the northern edge of downtown St Petersburg, Florida. Work-from-home, hybrid work, and first-time entrepreneurs, in our opinion, want flexibility, not just WFH. So we're investing in that, right here where we live. If you want more info, you can reach us here.
On March 15th, you can catch me in Tampa as part of Shaping the Future of Work, a panel discussion hosted by HR Tampa. This engaging panel will cover a variety of topics and encourage attendees to explore potential futures both near and long-term.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey
Public domain, public opportunity, or terror?
I first read about Winnie the Pooh's murderous comeback last January. The film follows a college-aged Christopher Robin who returns home to find that his merry pals have gone mad in his absence. The film hit U.S. theaters last week.
As a number of American classic characters hit the public domain in the coming years, I am curious to see how creators reimagine our childhood favorites and American icons. With a little imagination, there is really no limit to how Mickey, Tigger, Bugs Bunny, Batman, and Superman (all within a decade) might enter our political and cultural spaces through the public domain.

Leveraging a Design Economics Framework to Disrupt Economics
via Compass Magazine
The February issue of Compass magazine, the global voice of professional futurists, has just published my article, Leveraging a Design Economics Framework to Disrupt Economics. This quarterly magazine shares the diverse voices of professional futurists from around the world and is publicly available online for free.
For economics to address twenty-first-century challenges and prepare for the future, the field must become more adaptive. Economics must simultaneously rely upon past experience while disregarding outdated frameworks. This proposal for design and speculative economics and outline of the Design Economics Framework attempts to address that challenge. By providing initial language and tools for interdisciplinary collaboration, we can shift how we think about and discuss economics, and how the field of economics operates within academia and society.
I really hope you enjoy and are engaged by the Compass article and would love to hear your thoughts. Regardless of your knowledge of economics, the purpose of the Design Economics Framework is to make talking about the economy more common. If we can't or won't talk about economics, there is really no chance we can improve it.
