Anxiety is a common mental health condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Believe it or not, it impacts those who are in the speaking and presentation skills arena on high levels. It is a feeling of unease, worry, and fear that can be triggered by various situations or events. Although anxiety is a natural response to stress, social anxiety can have a significant impact on a person's physical and mental health.
As I travel and serve the world through speaking, I am constantly asked how someone who battles with anxiety can overcome it. The truth is that there is no "cookie cutter" method. There are, however, strategies that can be successful once implemented. All it takes is some preparation, some getting out of your comfort zone, and choosing to do it anyway - even if slightly nervous.
Anxiety impacts the physical and mental state of a person. Anything from increased heart rate, breathing rate, being in a state of constant alertness, depression, and more can happen. It has a way of interfering with a person's daily life, causing difficulty with concentration, memory, and decision-making. Yet, it is very real and professionals - like you and me - deal with various forms of it daily. But how do we do just that....deal with it?

You never have to go through these processes alone and you are not solo in your battle. As professionals, and as human beings, we owe it to ourselves to stop letting fear and mental stress take us out.
